Amy Burge Forsdyke
Lawyer with McTaggart Grant Lawyers
About
Amy is a second career corporate and commercial lawyer, having been admitted to practice law in 2022.
Amy’s first career originated in the financial markets, moving into corporate and commercial finance in industries such as investment banking, FMCG and media. Prior to joining McTaggart Grant in March 2024, Amy started her legal career at a top-tier national law firm gaining skills and experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, general corporate law and banking and finance dispute resolution.
Amy’s previous experience in business valuations, deal structuring and the strategic allocation and management of an 8 figure capital budget, means her approach to legal problems is naturally through a commercial lens. Inherently understanding the key commercial and operational levers and drivers of a business allows Amy to think holistically when advising on legal risks and opportunities, or constructing agreements that capture the essence of a business and provide the framework for optimum output.
Education
Amy holds a Juris Doctor with Distinction Class 1 from Bond University, complemented by a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice also from Bond University. Amy also holds a Bachelors degree in International Finance and Capital Market Studies achieved whilst living in the UK.
Community
Outside of work, you’ll find Amy outside. It might be exploring the Gold Coast beaches, breakfast spots or parks with her young family, or alternatively by herself running, at the local crit track or basking in the sun with good book.
